Red Stags
We have a fine selection of red stags available. Stags were first introduced in the area around 1870 with many fine heads taken out since then.

Wild Rams
We have a selection of Arapawa and Pitt Island rams on offer. These wild sheep make an unusual but attractive trophy.

Arapawa Rams
Most common colour is brown, but some may often have white points, and on occasion be white. These sheep have a narrow face and head; and have spiraled horns; which can grow to well over a metre in length.  Spotted Arapawa’s are often referred to as ‘Cocktail’ Arapawas.

Pitt Island Rams
Mostly multi coloured. These sheep have been in existence on Pitt Island for well over a century. Their horns also grow to over a metre in length. Whichever Rams you choose, will look great in any trophy room.

Fallow Deer
Fallow Deer originated from Europe and were first introduced into New Zealand around 1860-1864. These deer are smaller than reds and their heads tend to be palm like, rather like a moose; only on a smaller scale. Their coloring is mainly dark brown, almost chocolate or a light brown, tan. Some can be almost white in colour.

These little deer can be challenging at times, just like reds and are a lot of fun to hunt. During the ‘rut’ the bucks are very vocal, making a grunt or croaking sound and stamp their hoofs trying to intimidate other deer. They can get very aggressive during this time. Hunting these deer is from the beginning March – end August.

Ferral Goat Hunting
You can choose two types of hunts for these.
Either the shooting of a single trophy head or a full day hunt, up to four goats.
These are a real pest on farm land here in New Zealand.

Small Game Hunting
Rabbit/Hare/Geese
This small game hunting is becoming very popular and we can offer rabbit, hare and wild geese. Rabbit/hare hunting is best done in the evening, you’ll enjoy riding round the station on a Polaris Ranger spot lighting these. You will be supplied either a shot gun or a .22 rifle.

Wild geese are a problem on any farm, and these can be hunted anytime and no limit. These are very challenging and are very crafty. You will have fun trying to shoot these.

Turkeys
We have an abundance of wild turkeys all over our Station. Which can make an exciting hunt. You can hunt turkeys all year round but the best time is from July – November, this is when they are in full bloom and ‘struttin’.

Duck shooting, seasonal  - POA
We can offer you a duck shoot on one of our many dams or by stalking, this is mainly a late afternoon/early evening shoot. It can be very exciting watching and waiting for the ducks to fly in and land.

You cannot shoot ducks that are on the water, they have to be flying, and can be very challenging to get your eye in to shoot these.

Duck shooting season in New Zealand is:

  • The first full weekend in May to end June.
  • You will also be required to have a duck shooting licence, which is very easy to obtain once you arrive in our area @ around $51.00 NZ for three days.

Bow Hunting
Bow hunters are more than welcome to come and join in the fun of stalking trophy stags, rams, turkeys etc. This way of hunting is becoming extremely popular. Sorry, but we are unable to supply a bow so it is recommended that you bring you own with you.

Taxidermy
We have an excellent taxidermist available should you want your Trophy/s mounted here in New Zealand. OR we can arrange for your heads to be expedited back home. Payment for these will need to be paid directly to him. Steve will be more than happy to answer any questions/costings etc you may have.  Click on the following link to veiw his fabulous work - www.stevebarclaytaxidermy.co.nz
